For some HP users, it is causing BSOD because of driver incompatibility issue, while those who are using SST or Intel Smart Sound Technology (ISST) Driver is not able to hear any sound post-1809 update. There is noting wrong with your system, and only patches from the OEMs will help. Meanwhile, there are some workarounds that may help you.
Some HP Laptops see WDF_VIOLATION Blue Screen
This is a remote issue where HP users receive the blue screen error. This BSOD shows up for HP’s keyboard driver. While it wasn’t there with 1809, it is being reported after the rollout of the recent Cumulative Update KB4464330 or KB4462919. It seems Microsoft is aware of this and this came in as confirmation from a consumer. Microsoft has a put a pause on the Update rollout for those PCs. As per the Microsoft agent, this is a known issue for 17763.55 cumulative update. To fix this, Microsoft has rolled out KB4468304 that explains the issue. You will need to download and install the update. You can download this KB update from here. After installing the HP keyboard driver, version 11.0.3.1, via Windows Update or if you manually installed it, HP devices may experience a blue screen stop error: WDF_VIOLATION.
No Audio – Intel Smart Sound Technology (ISST) Driver Issue
If you have Intel Smart Sound Technology, then it’s not Microsoft’s fault, but its Intel’s. The company seems to have accidentally released version 9.21.00.3755 of the Intel Smart Sound Technology (ISST) Driver through Windows Update, and mistakenly offered it to a range of devices running Window 10 ve1803 or 1809. Said an Intel spokesman to us: While the update is no longer a part of the Windows delivery system, those who already have this, you will have to manually remove it. While the above solution will work for sure, in case it doesn’t, here is another solution. In the Device Manager, locate the SST driver. Right-click > Update Driver > Browse and this time select High Definition Audio. SST will disappear from here, and your audio should be back in place. Are you facing any other issues?
