1] Check microphone settings
It is the first thing you need to check when the voice typing is not working on your Windows 11 computer. To use the voice typing functionality, you need to have a valid microphone, and it must be turned on. To verify the microphone settings in Windows 11, do the following:
Press Win+I to open Windows Settings.Navigate to Privacy & security > Microphone.Toggle the Microphone access button to turn it on.
After that, check whether you can type using your voice or not.
2] Verify keyboard shortcut
By default, you need to press Win+H to open the Voice typing panel on your Windows 11 PC. However, if you set the same keyboard shortcut for something else, you won’t be able to use voice typing anymore. There are several tools for Windows 11/10 to modify the default keyboard shortcuts. If you have recently installed such a tool, it is recommended to check if the Win+H shortcut is assigned to something else or not.
3] Choose Speech language
You need to set English in most countries to use voice typing. However, if you have set something else, it may not work all the time. Therefore, do the following to choose the Speech language:
Press Win+I to open Windows Settings.Go to Time & language.Select the Speech option.Choose English (United States) from the Speech language drop-down list.
4] Install microphone driver
If you are using a third-party or external microphone for voice typing, you may need to install the corresponding driver. You may not do the same if you use the in-built microphone of your laptop, but it is recommended to install the driver when you are using an external microphone with your computer.
5] Run Troubleshooter
If none of the above-mentioned solutions worked for you, you could try using the Playing Audio Troubleshooter on your computer. For that, do the following:
Press Win+I to open Windows Settings on your PC.Go to System > Troubleshooter > Other troubleshooters.Find the Playing Audio Troubleshooter.Click the Run button.

There could be several reasons why voice typing is not working on your Windows 11 computer. From a faulty microphone to an incorrect setting, anything could be responsible for this problem. If the voice typing is not working on Google Keyboard or Gboard, you must check for the required permission first.
