Manage installed Services & Drivers on Windows 10
ServiWin is a tool that displays the list of installed drivers and services on your system. It also gives you the ability to manipulate them, as it allows you to easily stop, start, restart, pause, and continue service or driver, change the startup type of service or driver. ServiWin also allows you to export the list of System Services and Drivers to an HTML file. In addition to the name, it also will display the file description, version, product name, company that created the driver file, and more.
The working is very simple. You have two different options or packages to download. One is the portable version and the other is the installable version. When you run it you can just double click on the icon to launch as a non-admin mode which will give you read-only access and for full access, you need to right-click on the icon and run as administrator. You can disable or change the startup type too. Just click right-click on the desired service or driver and you’ll get a context menu to choose from. It’s very simple and user-friendly like any other tool from Nir Sofer.
This feature can be useful if you have to simply disable a service or a rouge driver, which could be causing problems like Blue Screens, etc. There are different color representations. All started services/drivers are in blue color, All disabled services/drivers are in Red color and All services/drivers that start automatically with the operating systems (with ‘Automatic’ and ‘Boot’ Startup types) but not currently running are in Purple color. Now you also have something called Offline Mode. ServiWin allows you to connect another instance of the Windows operating system. But you cannot start or stop them in real-time but it will take effect once you reboot the system. You can use the command, for example, serviwin.exe /offline e:\windows. Developers have warned that when using this offline mode, the ‘SYSTEM’ registry file of the other operating system is temporarily loaded as a new hive under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. The real-time usage of this tool is very vast. I would say it’s a must-have tool for IT Professionals and System administrators.
