Installing Skype failed with error code 1603
1] Uninstall Skype
Open Control Panel > Programs & Features and uninstall Skype. Restart your computer
2] Run Program Install and Uninstall Troubleshooter
Run the Program Install and Uninstall Troubleshooter. It is a handy tool available for Windows 10/8/7 and solves various issues related to registry keys, the problem that blocks users from installing or uninstalling any software. While running it, expand the “Advanced” option and make sure the “App repairs automatically” is checked.
You will be asked if you are facing problem while installing or uninstalling. Make your selection and proceed. You may also be asked to pick a program that is having problems. Select Not listed since you won’t find Skype now and proceed. The tool will scan your system for possible problems and fix them automatically.
3] Reinstall Skype
Download the latest Skype setup from the Microsoft website and install it. The installation is expected to go through smoothly now. It worked for me, and I hope it works for you too.
