Google in partnership with SkyFonts has made the new fonts from the Google Fonts directory available for its users. The tool allows users to install and sync fonts from the web onto their Windows or Mac OS X devices. Each time a font is updated or new characters are added, the tool automatically updates the font on your device.
Install desktop version of Google Fonts on Windows
SkyFonts will install Desktop versions of Google Fonts onto your Windows PC. Please note that the download and installation of SkyFonts require .NET Framework 4 installed. If you do not have it installed, you will be prompted to install the setup first. You will also need to create a free account with fonts.com for downloading and syncing new fonts from the app. If you don’t want to do so but still use SkyFonts, you can download fonts directly through the Google Code project.
SkyFonts silently runs in the background. You can see it in the form of a small icon visible on the taskbar. This ensures the application is updating itself as and when needed.
If you would like to add new fonts to your ‘Fonts collection’ simply right-click the icon residing on the Taskbar, select the Choose Fonts option, and then Google Fonts.
When directed to a new page, hit the ‘Browse Google Fonts’ button.
Next, from the ‘Google Fonts’ window select the desired font, click the drop-down arrow adjacent to SkyFonts button, and then hit ‘Add’. You will get a confirmation message that the desired font has been added to your fonts collection.
You can check it under the ‘Fonts’ menu of the SkyFonts main window.
Quite a useful freeware, I must say!
